'What do you want to do when you leave school?' is a question many students dread.

Very few people know from a young age what they want to be when they 'grow up'. For most, deciding on a career pathway is a process that takes many years and may well change over time as they learn, grow, and change.
Providing career guidance for students can help them feel more prepared and confident when making decisions about their future. It can help students understand their strengths, abilities, and qualifications, as well as the skills they will need throughout their lives, such as self-awareness and decision-making.
Career guidance can help students consider key questions, such as:
What motivates you? Understanding core motivations and values is likely to help you choose careers that will engage you and make you happy.
What are you good at? Knowing your strengths can help you identify careers that align with them, increasing the likelihood that you will enjoy your work.
What are you interested in? What subjects do you enjoy most? What activities outside of school do you like? Exploring your interests and trying them out through activities, part-time work, or study can help narrow down a career direction.
What jobs are out there? Parents, friends, social media, and television significantly influence perceptions of different careers and students' awareness of available job options. Career guidance can help students explore these perceptions and uncover careers they may not know about.
What pathways are available? Many students believe that a successful career or high-paying job can only be achieved through university. However, the truth is that there are various pathways to success. Career guidance can help students manage setbacks and explore alternative options.
How will AI impact my future career? Understandably, there is a lot of nervousness about AI and its impact on jobs. Finding information on how jobs are evolving, in-demand skills for the future, and areas of predicted job growth can help students make informed decisions.
